Crosspointe Church and Youth Ministry Planning

We will have a special service on Sunday May 18 to celebrate our partnership with Crosspointe Church. This is a new church in South County, and we are working with them to help them get off the ground as a church plant. Crosspointe pastor, Darren Casper will be in our service, along with a few of their key leaders. We will hear their vision, and be challenged as a church to get involved in this mission.

Our ministry to students is gaining momentum, and we need to keep it going. We are going to have a meeting on Tuesday May 13 at the Hubbard’s home to look at summer activities. This is the youth Community Group night. The meeting portion will begin around 7:30 PM. If you have interest in helping with our teenagers, we would love to have you hang out at this meeting.

During April, we will be collecting our North American Missions Offering. Money given to this special offering will go to supporting missions and missionaries, evangelism, and church planting efforts in the United States, Canada, and the rest of North America. You can participate in our North American Missions Offering by making checks to Genesis Church and indicating North American Missions in the tag line.

Registration packets for the Family Mission Trip this summer are available today. We are planning to take a group to Oak Grove, KY, a small town just outside of Fort Campbell the week of June 1-6. On the trip, we will be helping a new church build their first church building. We will also be providing kid’s clubs or sports camps for children in the area. Be sure to pick up a packet to find out more about our mission trip.

We are going to honor the teachers at Blevins Elementary School on Monday May 5, and we need your help. On Sunday May 4, we need you to bake a tray of cookies or brownies and bring them to church. We will deliver them with “thank you” cards for the teachers.

We are going to try something new this year with our Genesis Kid’s Clubs. Rather than a large parent night at the end of the week, we are going to try to provide block parties in each neighborhood before the clubs. The block parties would include food and some games, and then a movie in the park. To make this happen, we need a team of people to lead these. We have access to a trailer and other supplies to make these great events. The team would work with our Kid’s Clubs leaders to choose dates, and plan for publicity. They would then make the events happen. See Mike or Kristi Machica to get information, or to join this team.

We will celebrate the most important and glorious event in all of history this month, the resurrection of Jesus. We celebrate Easter because the death and resurrection of Jesus is the central message of the Gospel. Easter also gives us a great chance to reach out to those not attending church right now. We will have Krispy Kreme donuts and Starbucks coffee that morning from 9:00-9:45 AM.

We will be offering our Gospel Class staring on Sunday March 30. The Gospel Class is designed to be the first major connection for those visiting Genesis or thinking about membership. The class gives an overview of our core beliefs, values, and vision. The class lasts five weeks, meeting from 6-8 PM. Childcare is provided for those who register their children. To get more information, or to sign-up for this Gospel Class, visit the Information Table in the lobby or contact Mike.

We will, once again, be hosting Genesis Kid’s Clubs this summer! A meeting for those planning to help, or those interested in finding out how to get involved, will be held Sunday, April 6th, in the Genesis Kid’s area at 9am.

A recent insurance ad campaign asks a very deep question. Using a pillar as an image, the question asked is, “What matters to you?” Mike will begin a new seven week series on March 16, taking a look at the objects of our worship. We will be looking at the things most of us tend to place on that pillar, and find out that we were created for worship. But what you worship makes all the difference in the world! We have invite cards for this series at the Information Table.

We will be launching a new Community Group during March. Community Groups provide people a place to build relationships, live faith, and do mission with a small group. The new group will meet at the home of John and Donna Parke on Sunday evenings. If you are interested in getting involved in this group, or want more information, contact John Parke, or you can fill out a Community Group registration card at the Information Table.

Hey, middle school and high school students! Join us for an exciting day at the Connect Student Conference on Saturday March 15. The conference is in Hazelwood, MO, and will be attended by hundreds of students from the area. The conference is only $10, which includes dinner. To register, students need to turn in a form and payment by Sunday March 9. The conference is from 2-8 PM. We will leave at 1:00 PM.

For our Good Friday Service, we are actually going to serve. We are planning a community service/mission project in the city of St. Louis for Friday March 23. This project will have work for people of all ages. Time and details about the project will be available in the Member’s Newsletter at the beginning of March.

We are planning a date for either March or April to do baptism. If anyone in your family would like to be baptized, e-mail Mike to make arrangements.
